Voices for Peace – Cultural Singing Exchange

Description

Music is a universal language, and this autumn we are celebrating its unifying power with Voices for Peace, a cultural singing exchange open to all. The event will bring together singers and music lovers from diverse backgrounds to share songs that express messages of peace, unity, and friendship.

The afternoon will begin with a warm welcome and refreshments featuring flavors from different cultures. Our facilitators will then guide participants through a gentle warm-up before diving into an array of songs from various countries—African call-and-response pieces, traditional European ballads, uplifting Latin American rhythms, and more.

One of the unique aspects of Voices for Peace is that each participant is encouraged to bring a song from their own heritage to teach the group. This could be a lullaby, a protest song, a love ballad, or any piece that carries meaning. In this way, the event becomes a living cultural exchange, where music serves as both a bridge and a celebration of diversity.

Midway through the program, we will have a short reflection circle where attendees can share personal thoughts about what peace means to them. The day will conclude with all participants joining in a “final harmony”—a medley of songs learned during the session.

Program Outline:

• 3:00 PM – 3:20 PM: Welcome & multicultural refreshments
• 3:20 PM – 3:40 PM: Vocal warm-up and introduction
• 3:40 PM – 4:30 PM: Session 1 – Songs from different traditions (led by facilitators)
• 4:30 PM – 4:50 PM: Cultural song sharing (participants teaching their songs)
• 4:50 PM – 5:10 PM: Break & informal networking
• 5:10 PM – 5:40 PM: Reflection circle on peace and unity
• 5:40 PM – 6:30 PM: Session 2 – Joint rehearsal of shared songs
• 6:30 PM – 7:00 PM: Final harmony & closing ceremony

This event is not only about music but also about dialogue, understanding, and friendship. It is a space where every voice is valued and every story matters.
